Forensic Interviews are supportive, non-leading conversations designed to elicit information about what a child has experienced or witnessed. Interviewers at the Kentucky River Child Advocacy Center are specially trained to talk to and interact with children while assessing their developmental capabilities. The interview is conducted to assist law enforcement and social service personnel in gathering factual information regarding the abuse allegations.
Each interview is recorded on DVD and observed through closed circuit video by the assigned law enforcement officer and/or social worker. Interviews are conducted at the Center to limit the number of times a child must recount their story of abuse. All interviews are conducted in a safe, child-friendly environment and provided at no cost to a child’s family.
